Melissa loves rescue dogs and thrift store shopping.
Role at Wired Impact
Melissa is a web designer at Wired Impact. She spends a lot of her time concepting, wireframing, and designing prototypes for our nonprofit website themes. She loves learning about nonprofits and getting to help them look their best online.
Why She Loves This Work
Melissa’s passion for creating compelling visuals along with her desire to do good make her an ideal fit at Wired Impact. She’s always up for a good creative challenge and exploring ways to give users the best possible experience. She feels really fortunate to be a part of such an open-minded and enthusiastic team, and finds using her creative skills to help nonprofits incredibly rewarding.
Her Path to Nonprofit Web Work
Before joining Wired Impact, Melissa worked as an art director at several digital agencies, producing art for clients such as Marriott, Hyundai and Build-A-Bear. She’s super jazzed to be able to align her professional experience with her need to give a damn.
Outside of Work
On the weekends Melissa tries to spend as much time as possible outdoors with her husband and their two rescue dogs. They also love traveling and try to never visit the same place twice, as there’s so much to see. Some of their favorite travels have been Rio de Janeiro, the Amalfi Coast and Guatemala’s picturesque town of Flores.
Melissa also volunteers as a Big with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. She and her Little, Makayla, have been matched for over five years and have the stories to prove it. They love spending time together whether they’re running errands or going to see a play. Like a true millennial, Melissa spent a lot of time researching where to volunteer, and she loves that BBBS gives her the opportunity to have a long-term relationship and provide Makayla with more opportunities than she might have otherwise.
