We’re proud to announce the launch of the Latin American Youth Center website!
The Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) empowers a diverse population of youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood through multi-cultural, comprehensive and innovative programs that address youths’ social, academic and career needs. And because they do so much, LAYC is actually spread across four sites in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, providing dozens of points of service through schools and other partners.
To help LAYC make their web presence bright and engaging for all ages, we created a responsive website that immediately welcomes visitors through its colorful and photo-filled homepage. From here, there’s easy access to a wide range of program areas and ways to get involved plus meet some of the youth and find information on LAYC’s Promoter Pathway model.
To make sure that the website serves everyone, we added language translation functionality that allows users to choose to read a page in either English or Spanish. And it’s not just the text in the main body of page that get’s translated – everything from the navigation to the footer can be translated, ensuring that anyone looking for support gets where they need to go.
One of the problems we wanted to help solve for LAYC was finding a better way to organize their many programs. We’re thrilled with the new Find a Program system we built for them, which lets visitors filter programs by topic areas as well as location. Now it’s quicker than ever before to find opportunities to get help or get involved.
The map feature that we built for the homepage offers another easy way to access programs based on location.
Using a slightly different style and reorganized content, we also created a special Youth Corner for the website. Just like LAYC’s mission, this section puts youth first and illustrates the big community of support that exists for these young adults. We love that it’s a place to promote media created by the youth themselves.
Visit the Latin American Youth Center website to see how they’re making a difference by moving youth into adulthood by focusing on academics, social needs, job readiness, health, and safe living spaces.
